An Oxford, NC 16 year old boy was handcuffed and taken from his home after nine armed FBI agents (are there any other kind?) joined by three local law enforcement officials stormed his family’s home around 10pm (usually at night, the black ninja outfits just don’t blend in during daylight) on March 5, 2009.
The government says that the 10th grade home schooler made a bomb threat from his home on February 15, 2009. The boy’s widowed mother says that she and her two children where at a church function that night.
Further, the mother feels that “someone hacked into her son’s IP address” and made that threat making crank calls via the internet while making it look like the calls came from her son.
Agents seized a computer, a cell phone, gaming console, routers, bank statements and school records. No bomb making materials of any kind where found in the home, nor where any firearms found.
Thanks to the USA Patriot Act, the boy sits in jail being denied due process as an “enemy of the United States”. Accused enemy, I might add. Nothing like the “Patriot” Act to reverse the centuries old policy of “innocent until proven guilty”.
